A proud Geek dad
Gabe: (playing) “Don’t make me angry!”
Ian: “Ha ha. Yeah, that’s what Hulk says, isn’t it?”
Gabe: “Well, no. That’s what the little man says.”
Ian: … “Right. Dr. Banner. Good point.”

Ian: If you want to run around, we should go outside.
Gabe: Why?
Ian: Well, what’s bigger, outside or inside?
Gabe: Outside and inside both together are bigger.

Gabe: What’s that?
Ian: Oh, this is your medical insurance card.
Gabe: It’s mine?
Ian: Uh-huh. This one is for you, and this one is for me.
Gabe: Can I have it?
Ian: Oh, sure. Just give it to the doctor when it’s our turn, okay?
Gabe: Okay.

Since I can’t find my USB SD card reader, I temporarily can’t offload photos from my camera! So, I’ve been holding off on posts about the many Santa sightings we’ve had. But, the last trip we took was on the Chicago subway, which Santa just loves to ride every year when he’s in Chicago. His elves were kind enough to take one picture for us. So, here it is, to hold all of you family at bay until I can find that card reader!

Stephanie: Can you hang the tinsel a little looser?
Stephanie: mmm… a little tighter?
Stephanie: …
Stephanie: I can do it by myself, if you want to rest.

My name is Gabriel. I am three years old. I want Echo Echo and Woody. My mommy’s name is Stephanie and my daddy’s name is Ian. I hope you’re doing well. We decorated our Christmas tree.
Santa, you’re going to bring presents to my house, I hope. I’ve been a good boy. I’m a hero.
Love,
Gabriel

This story starts in a weird place. I wish I had pictures. Yesterday, Gabe and I are walking to the bus stop on the way to preschool, when we notice one lonely cowboy boot lying in the snow, curled up against the curb as if taking refuge from the cold and wet and traffic. We were both confused. How could someone leave just one cowboy boot in the street? I wondered aloud, “Is there a cowboy walking around with just one boot and one sock?”
And Gabe corrected me immediately, “It could be a cowgirl, Daddy. Could be a cowboy *or* a cowgirl.”
Bravo, Gabe. Bravo. My work here is done.
