A House of Pestilence

October 20th, 2009 by admin

It’s that time of year again, and all three of have fallen ill with some kind of bug.   This one doesn’t seem as bad other years.   There’s been no puking.  None of us have even had any noticeable fever.   But, what it lacks in horrible symptoms, this critter makes up for in persistence.   It’s been about two weeks since Gabe first started to get sick, and about a week and a half since all of us fell one way or another.

Stephanie has been hit the hardest.   She even took today off from work, and went to the doctor.   This gave us welcome confirmation that it’s nothing worse than your average flu.    Still she’s full of aches and pains, and has been losing her concentration and falling asleep.

Ironically, tomorrow they get the vaccine at work.

I haven’t had as many symptoms, but have been getting splitting headaches.   My new highly mobile lifestyle has been really hard.   There were a couple of days where I woke up feeling like death and found it very very hard to motivate.

Gabriel has been almost completely unphased.   Some days he says he feels sick.   Some days his nose oozes green slime like some kind of Ghostbusters’ haunted faucet.   But all through he’s continued to zoom around and bounce off the walls like his normal overly-energetic self.

Gabe and I both got the vaccine this year.   It doesn’t seem to have helped us very much!

Oh,man! Sorry to hear you are all unwell. Wish I was closer to bring you some homemade soup. Sleep, sleep, sleep as much as you can with an energetic preschooler around.

Neither of us has been sleeping as much as we should, since we’re sick. But, both of us feel like we’re sleeping too much compared to what we want to get done every day! Steph falls asleep with reams of legal documentation scattered around her on the bed or couch. I go to bed with piles of undone laundry and scribbled ideas for drawings and writing.

So sorry to hear of this but it sounds like the same for Papa and myself. The bug starts to go away and then boom, back to square one. I am finally feeling beter, but Papa is still battling. We are thinking of you!!!

Feel better soon! Perhaps you need a little Phoenix sun to burn the sickies out of you… hint hint.

I wish! If I only could, I would be out in the Phoenix sun, slurping up some of D’one’s soup. Sigh.
