Youtubery

It came to my attention today that you guys can’t see the videos that I’ve been posting.    When I uploaded them to YouTube, I set them to “private” thinking that that only blocked the videos from showing up in a search on < youtube.com >.    But, it seems that private videos on YouTube can’t be viewed by anonymous visitors, regardless of how they are being viewed.

SO…

I’m looking into other options for videos on this blog.   I don’t want to get into the tangled world of video encoding, so I’m not going to mess with QuickTime, RealPlayer and the like, unless I have to.    Right now, I’m looking into flash-based solutions (which is what YouTube uses), but this is complicated since I don’t have Flash!    It may have to wait until Gabe’s Blog 2.0 — which is currently in the works!

IN THE MEANTIME, what you can do is go to < youtube.com > and create an account, if you don’t already have one.   Then drive to http://youtube.com/user/IanSmithdahl and friend me by clicking on “Add As Friend”.     Then you’ll have to wait for me to add you to the list of people allowed to watch Gabe’s videos, so you’ll have to be nice to me!   Once I do that, as long as you have cookies enabled on your browser, you should be able to view the videos on this site.   I’ll be sending out an email blast to you guys shortly.
