Promoting his own personal hygiene already?

November 15th, 2007 by Stephanie

Last night as mommy was giving Gabe a much needed bath, she witnessed him take responsibility for his own personal hygiene. As per usual, mommy used the baby washcloth to wash Gabe’s eyes, ears, neck and face, to his mild objection. But, much to mommy’s surprise, after about 10 minutes of bath time fun, Gabe took the washcloth and very meticulously unfolded it. Then he gently dabbed it in the water and proceeded to mimic his own face washing. He very cutely washed his left ear, then dipped the washcloth in the water and went over the right ear quickly followed by a nice washing of his whole face. He was so proud of himself as mommy cheered him on from the sidelines. It’s amazing how quickly they become independent.

As a side note, Gabe also realized that he could create a tsunami by violently thrashing his arms through the water. As though his “other” personality had taken over, after his very gentle face-washing had ended, he proceeded to drench the bathroom in his splashing, so much so that mommy had to drain the tub to save herself. Ah, the two faces of Gabe!

Isn’t making a mess a bath time the best? I like to throw my toys everywhere and drain the tub.

I think we should take a cousins bath over Christmas in Grandpa and Grandma’s big spa tub!!

The above comment is supposed to be from cousin Mackenzie…she hasn’t learned to sign her name yet. I generally don’t throw my bath toys anywhere:) Aunt D’one
